⚖️ Ansaru commanders jailed for life after guilty pleas

A Federal High Court in Abuja has sentenced two commanders of Ansaru, an Al-Qaeda-affiliated terrorist group, to life imprisonment after they pleaded guilty to terrorism charges.

Abubakar Abba (also known as Abu Bara'a) and Mahmud Usman (also known as Isah Adam/Mahmud Al-Nigeri) were convicted on Monday on a 32-count terrorism charge brought by the Department of State Services (DSS).

Ansaru is a Nigerian jihadist faction with documented links to Al-Qaeda. The convictions follow guilty pleas by both defendants before the court.
