The formation required to produce leaders who make transgenerational impact is more important than competence alone. Competence may open doors, but formation determines what a leader does once those doors are opened.

It takes more than skill to build what will outlive you. It takes character that has been tested, convictions that cannot be bought, humility that can keep learning, courage that can stand alone, and discipline that remains faithful when no one is watching.

Many people are competent enough to lead for a season, but only those who have been deeply formed can lead in ways that shape generations. Skills answer the question, "Can you do the job?" Formation answers the more important question, "Who are you becoming while doing it?"

History remembers not only what leaders achieved, but the kind of people they became and the legacy their lives left behind. Competence builds organizations; formation builds civilizations
