The House of Representatives has commenced a public investigation into allegations surrounding the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), despite ongoing probes by the ICPC and the police. The ad hoc committee, chaired by Hon. Yusuf Gagdi, will examine how the purported agency was included in the federal budget and determine whether government procedures were compromised. The public hearing follows President Bola Tinubu’s directive for a comprehensive ICPC investigation into the matter.

The probe comes amid the arrest of PFIPC Director General, Adeniyi Adeyemi, over alleged conspiracy, forgery and impersonation after he failed to appear in court. Adeyemi also faces a ₦15 billion defamation suit filed by the President’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, over allegations of a 48 per cent kickback demand linked to a ₦27.3 billion take-off grant.
