When discussing Arabic Studies and Islamic Studies, we need to be careful not to mix two different things.

Arabic Studies is the study of a language, just as one would study French, German, or Chinese. There is nothing inherently wrong with studying Arabic as a language.

Islamic Studies, on the other hand, is the academic study of Islam as a religion. They are not the same discipline, even though they may overlap in some contexts.

Likewise, graduating from an Islamic university does not automatically mean someone studied Islamic Studies. Many Islamic universities offer a wide range of secular or conventional courses alongside religious ones.

Let's not allow emotions or sentiments to cloud an issue that requires precision. What Bala Mohammed said deserves clarification because of the sensitivity of the subject, but we should also avoid treating Arabic Studies, Islamic Studies, and attendance at an Islamic university as though they all mean the same thing. They do not.
