SETTLEMENT NOT QUARREL II

Matthew 18:15 KJV
[15] Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother.
 
One of the things that people do not understand about offense is that it can bring down a relationship or a community to its knees. It has the capacity to cause war and destroy the peace of men. The lack of this understanding has caused the world to be in chaos in our days. The statement of Jesus suggested that you cannot do without offense in this world.
Matthew 18:7 KJV
Woe unto the world because of offences! for it must needs be that offences come; but woe to that man by whom the offence cometh! People are bound to offend each other. But there is no problem with offense when you work with the wisdom of God to take steps towards nipping it in the bud once you feel it. In fact, it is not enough to merely take offense; it is equally important to respond in a manner that helps resolve the situation rather than aggravate it.
However, there is a kingdom prescription in managing offenses as stated by Jesus in the text. He said that you should go to the person who offends you with the sole aim of gaining him back into a smooth relationship. He did not instruct you to focus on the intensity of the hurt you feel, but rather to pursue reconciliation and bring the matter to a peaceful resolution. There is a very important need to take this counsel very seriously if we want a better relationship with our neighbour and with all people. The mindset should be how to gain the brother back and not how to add petrol in the already burning fire. No matter how offended you are, do not respond in pain to that offence or go to such a person with the mindset of quarrel. The Bible says, blessed are the peacemakers because that is a sign that you are a child of God.
Matthew 5:9 KJV
Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.
You should intentionally not allow any crack to start from you in the body of Christ. If Jesus took all the insult to make sure that you and I are saved, there is no insult that you should not take in order to establish peace in the fold. May you not be overtaken by the pain of offence in Jesus’ name.
