GOV ALEX OTTI TO COMMISSION COMMUNITY PRIMARY SCHOOL, UMUOMAIKWU SMART SCHOOL IN ISIALA NGWA NORTH
The Executive Governor of Abia State, His Excellency, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, will on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at 3:00 p.m., commission the newly transformed Community Primary School, Umuomaikwu, Isiala Ngwa North Local Government Area, one of the flagship Smart Schools under the Abia State Smart School Initiative.
The project, delivered by the Abia State Government through the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, represents another significant milestone in the administration's commitment to repositioning basic education through innovation, technology, and world-class learning infrastructure.
Formerly a conventional public primary school, the facility has been comprehensively upgraded into a modern, technology-driven learning environment designed to equip pupils with the digital skills and knowledge required for the future.
The Smart School features 10 fully equipped smart classrooms fitted with interactive smart boards, digital learning devices, and a robust Learning Management System (LMS). The facility also boasts a state-of-the-art ICT laboratory, a multi-purpose hall, modern administrative offices, and a fully equipped sick bay to support the academic and welfare needs of learners.
In a bold demonstration of the government's commitment to digital education, every pupil from Primary One to Primary Six is entitled to a personal learning tablet, ensuring that every child has access to the digital tools required for effective teaching and learning.
In line with Governor Otti's inclusive education agenda, the school was deliberately designed to accommodate learners of all abilities, with accessibility features including ramps and specially designed toilet facilities for pupils with disabilities, ensuring that every child can learn in a safe, supportive, and barrier-free environment.
The commissioning of the Community Primary School, Umuomaikwu Smart School underscores the Abia State Government's unwavering resolve to provide quality, technology-enabled education and create an enabling environment where every child can thrive in the digital age.
