I recall the tragic loss of Dr. Cairo Ojougbo, a former member of the House of Representatives, who collapsed and died on 7th February, 2024, after watching the tensed AFCON semi final match between Nigeria and South Africa.

Chief Osondu Nwoye, an Anambra-born billionaire and the CEO of Group Auto Promotion, died under similar circumstances while he was watching the match live inside the stadium in Ivory Coast. He collapsed when Victor Osimhen's second goal was cancelled by the Video Assistant Referee (VAR).

Another heartbreak occurred when a young chap named Samuel, a serving NYSC member, slumped and died at a viewing centre in Adamawa State during that same AFCON penalty shootout.

As football lovers gear up for today's historic clash, prioritizing emotional composure, taking breathing breaks, and avoiding excessive excitement or stress could quite literally save lives.
