Where Are These Million Votes Coming From? If APC Has 10.99 Million Voters, They've Won 2027 Election- Mbamalu
The traditional ruler of Ojoto in Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State, Igwe Gerald Obunadike Mbamalu, has questioned the credibility of the voting figures recorded during the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking in an interview published by The Sun Nigeria on Sunday, July 19, 2026, the monarch said he found it difficult to believe the number of votes announced after the primary.
"If APC won presidential primaries with such a large number of votes, how many people voted and what magic did he use to win? Where are all these million, million votes coming from? If truly APC has 10.99 million voters, they have won the election," Mbamalu.
He questioned how such a large turnout was achieved and urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to remain neutral in the build-up to the general election, warning that any perception of bias could deepen tensions across the country.
His remarks come after the APC concluded its presidential primary on May 23, 2026, where President Bola Ahmed Tinubu emerged as the party's candidate for the 2027 election.
Results announced by the Presidential Primary Election Committee, led by former Senate President Anyim Pius Anyim, showed that Tinubu secured 10,999,162 votes from delegates and party members across the 36 states, the Federal Capital Territory, 774 local government areas, and 8,809 wards.
His only challenger, Stanley Osifo, received 16,503 votes.
The committee also disclosed that the APC had 12,643,316 registered members, with 11,069,746 accredited to participate in the exercise.
Of that number, 11,015,665 members were reported to have cast their votes.
The final collation of the direct primary results took place in Abuja, with state governors overseeing the process in their respective states.
After the declaration of the results, President Tinubu was presented with his certificate of return at the International Conference Centre.
Although the APC insisted that the primary complied with its constitution and relevant electoral guidelines, the scale of the reported turnout has continued to generate public debate, with many questioning the figures and what they could mean ahead of the 2027 general election.
