For the past three days, I have been trying to understand the real truth behind our transformer situation. The more people I ask, the more confusing the answers become.
This morning, I couldn't even sleep. I woke up early and went to speak with another resident, hoping to get a clear explanation. Instead, I was asked whether I had contributed money and where I live. I was told there is a WhatsApp group handling the matter and that the community has not yet completed the required contribution.
Yesterday, another resident told me to be patient because a petition had already been sent to the Commissioner. Today, someone else explained that the issue is not directly with the government but with JED, saying the transformer is privately owned and that residents must contribute money before a request can be processed for assistance.
According to what I have seen in that WhatsApp group a requests was sent on the 11th of July and received on the 13th of July in the commissioner office who claim to meet the governor and our transformer , since November and the group has being assuring us in the WhatsApp group suggest they are still waiting. But waiting for what exactly? Is the delay from JED? Is it from the government? Or is there misinformation somewhere?
I am not writing this to accuse anyone. I am simply trying to understand the truth because eight months without electricity has affected families, small businesses, elderly people, and children in our community. People deserve clear information, not confusion.
If any official from JED, the Benue State Government, the Ministry of Power, or anyone directly involved sees this, please help us understand where the process stands and what is preventing a solution. Transparency will restore confidence and help this community know the next step.
To everyone reading this, what do you think is really happening? Have we been properly informed, or is there a communication gap? We are only asking for answers and for our community to finally have electricity again. I contributed the little I can, because Im still a student in rent
