Mary Habila: Evidence, Not Emotion

I have been scouring media reports for clues surrounding the death of Mary Habila, yet I have not come across any credible evidence suggesting foul play. Before we accuse anyone of a crime, we owe it to the deceased, the accused, and society to rely on facts rather than speculation.

Those accusing Hon. Dave Umahi should kindly present evidence beyond the fact that a young, hardworking woman died in the residence of a politically exposed person.

Or are some people simply inferring culpability because, like me, they disagree with the Minister’s politics? Political disagreement, however profound, is not a sufficient basis for accusing anyone of a crime without evidence.

If you have factual information showing what Dave Umahi did—or failed to do—that contributed to her death, please bring it forward. I am willing to read and consider it. But please spare me the “they said, they said” stories. I moved beyond that kind of reasoning a long time ago.

If, on the other hand, no such evidence exists, then we should allow the appropriate authorities to conduct their investigations without trial by social media.

May the soul of the young woman rest in peace, and may Almighty God grant her family the strength and fortitude to bear this painful loss.
