⭐ Messi equals Cafu's record of three World Cup final appearances

Lionel Messi has matched Brazil legend Cafu as the only players in history to appear in three World Cup finals. The Argentine icon featured in the 2014, 2018 and 2022 tournaments, with his third final appearance ending in glory as Argentina lifted the trophy in Qatar.

Cafu reached the final with Brazil in 1994, 1998 and 2002, winning two of those — making him the previous sole holder of the record before Messi drew level.
