๐จ SOWORE MAKES BOLD PROMISE: "I WILL REVERSE ALL PUBLIC FACILITIES NAMED AFTER TINUBU IF ELECTED PRESIDENT!"
African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has declared that if he becomes Nigeria's president in 2027, his administration will reverse the naming of public facilities, highways, institutions and other national assets after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other serving public officials.
Reacting to the Federal Government's recent decision to rename the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway after President Tinubu, Sowore argued that national monuments and public infrastructure should not be used to celebrate serving politicians.
According to Sowore:
"I will reverse all public facilities named after President Bola Tinubu and other public officials if elected."
He also maintained that:
"National assets belong to the Nigerian people, not to politicians in power."
The statement has sparked intense reactions across social media, with supporters describing it as a move to preserve national institutions from political influence, while critics argue that governments have historically named projects after leaders and notable personalities.
The controversy comes amid ongoing public debate over the Federal Government's decision to name the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway after President Tinubu, with many Nigerians expressing differing opinions on whether serving presidents should have major public infrastructure named after them.
What do you think?
Should public projects be named after serving presidents, or should such honours only come after they leave office?
