When the US House of Representatives votes to link assistance to Nigeria's security performance, is it foreign interference or a mirror?
In a compelling new analysis, Collins Nweke argues it is the latter. With Nigeria attracting $10.37bn in capital importation in Q1 2026 but only $135.08m of that as foreign direct investment, the message is clear: reversible portfolio capital follows yields; durable investment follows governance.
Nweke's conclusion is pointed: in the 21st century, every cabinet decision is an act of economic diplomacy, and the President of Nigeria is the country's Chief Economic Diplomat. Security is no longer just a military strategy. It is an investment strategy.
