𝗚𝗘𝗢𝗠𝗘𝗧𝗥𝗜𝗖 𝗣𝗢𝗪𝗘𝗥 𝗛𝗔𝗦 𝗖𝗛𝗔𝗡𝗚𝗘𝗗 𝗔𝗕𝗜𝗔’𝗦 𝗘𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗢𝗠𝗜𝗖 𝗦𝗧𝗢𝗥𝗬, 𝗚𝗢𝗩𝗘𝗥𝗡𝗢𝗥 𝗢𝗧𝗧𝗜 𝗧𝗥𝗜𝗕𝗨𝗧𝗘𝗦 𝗣𝗥𝗢𝗙. 𝗕𝗔𝗥𝗧𝗛 𝗡𝗡𝗔𝗝𝗜 𝗔𝗧 𝟳𝟬.

Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, has attributed much of the State's recent economic progress to the successful delivery of the Geometric Power Project, describing it as the investment that has opened a new chapter for industrial development, reliable electricity and cleaner public transportation in Abia.

Speaking at the 70th birthday celebration of former Minister of Power and Founder of Geometric Power Limited, Professor Barth Nnaji, held at the International Conference Centre, Enugu, Governor Otti paid glowing tribute to the renowned engineer and scholar, describing him as a man whose vision was decades ahead of its time. He recalled that Professor Nnaji embraced Artificial Intelligence and Robotics long before they became global priorities and praised his determination in pursuing the Aba Integrated Power Project despite years of setbacks.

Governor Otti also acknowledged the contributions of several distinguished Nigerians whose interventions helped bring the power project to completion. He commended the 16th Emir of Kano and former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, His Royal Highness Muhammadu Sanusi II, CON, for the critical role he played during his time at AMCON, which enabled Geometric Power to access fresh financing. The Governor equally appreciated former President Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, GCFR, for approving the Aba Ring-fenced Power Project in 2004 and praised Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima, GCON, for facilitating the gas supply that eventually made the commissioning of the power plant possible in February 2024.

According to Governor Otti, the availability of stable electricity gave his administration the confidence to introduce electric buses into the State, with another batch expected to arrive shortly, while encouraging Nigerians to emulate Professor Nnaji's resilience, innovation and unwavering commitment to excellence.

Delivering the keynote lecture titled "Energy Security and Innovative Service," His Royal Highness Muhammadu Sanusi II, CON, described stable electricity as the engine of economic prosperity and pointed to Abia as practical evidence of how reliable power can transform an economy.

In his remarks, Professor Barth Nnaji expressed gratitude to Governor Otti, Sanusi and other supporters who stood by the Geometric Power vision, recalling their roles in securing financing and restructuring the project's loan facilities. The event also witnessed the unveiling of his biography, "The Man Who Dared: The Story of Barth Nnaji."

The event was attended by distinguished personalities such as
former President Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, GCFR; Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Mbah; former Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi; Mrs. Uche Azikiwe; Abia State Commissioner for Power and Public Utilities, Engr. Ikechukwu Monday, alongside captains of industry, academics and other eminent Nigerians.
