Run in Such a Way to Obtain

What distinguishes the intentional runner from the casual participant? Discipline, focus, and the deliberate subordination of lesser things to the greater goal. Paul goes on in the following verses to describe his own practice: he does not run uncertainly; he does not fight as one beating the air. He presses with clarity of purpose and specificity of aim, and he expects results accordingly.

As you press forward in this season, ask yourself honestly: am I running with intentionality, or am I simply occupying my lane? Do my daily habits, my spiritual disciplines, my use of time and resources reflect a runner who means to obtain the prize? Casual Christianity will not carry us to the finish line God has marked for our lives. Press with purpose, and the prize will be reachable.

PRAYER:
Gracious Heavenly Father, may I not be a casual runner. Give me clarity of purpose and strength of discipline, so that everything I do in this season moves me deliberately toward the prize You have set before me. In Jesus' name!
