SETTLEMENT NOT QUARREL 1

Matthew 18:15 KJV
[15] Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother.

It is expedient for every believer to know that the kingdom of God is meant for us to enjoy peace with God and everyone around us.
Hebrews 12:14 KJV
Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord.
The Bible did not say that you should live in peace with some people, but everyone you know. There is no provision for enemies because we are supposed to be saturated by the love of God that comforts and looks for the good of others.
Jesus said that when a brother offends you, you should go to him and let him be aware. Unlike what many do today, a believer is not permitted to cut ties with someone because they were offended by such a person. There are lots of people who leave a Church because they were offended. What they do not consider is that such an act suggests that they are selfish in their thoughts and without understanding. It also shows that they never understood the reason they were in Church in the first place. If God truly is blessing you in a Church, it can only be stupidity that will make you forsake the blessing and go to somewhere you are not sure that God sent you to. It is like abandoning your money in a bank because you were offended by the staff or gateman of the bank. It is also like abandoning a restaurant where you get delicious meals for another one that the food is not good enough because you were offended by a waiter. If you chose a Church, it means that you overlooked every other Church because there is something that you receive there that you cannot get in other places. Leaving such a place for petty reasons that are not as important as what God is doing with you spiritually in that place is a sign that the devil has manipulated your mind.
The counsel of God as stated by Jesus is for you to go to the person in the first place and let him understand that you were offended. Mind you, Jesus did not say you should go there and quarrel but to let the person be aware of the offence. If the person refuses to accept, you are to look for a witness or another person who will look at the case fairly and pass judgement. If the witness says the brother is wrong but he still refuses to agree, you are to take it to the authority like the pastor in the case that it is a Church. This suggests that you should make it a duty to settle it and not go in anger with a decision to cut ties with the person or the Church. It is unchristian to behave in such a way since Jesus gave the commandment. Next time you are offended and you cannot settle it with the person, make sure you take it to authority and accept the authoritys judgement irrespective of whoever it favours.

Daily Task
Mention five reasons why people do not take the right decision when offended.

Prayers
1. Father, I receive grace to take the right step when offended.
2. Lord, help me to overcome the pain of offense.
