Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, has filed a ₦15 billion defamation suit against Adeniyi Adeyemi Matthew over allegations that he demanded a 48% kickback from a ₦27.3 billion take-off grant for the controversial Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC). Gbajabiamila described the claims as false and malicious, seeking ₦10 billion in general damages, ₦5 billion in aggravated damages, ₦200 million in legal costs, and a court order compelling a public retraction and apology across national newspapers and social media platforms.

The lawsuit comes as a Federal High Court in Abuja ordered Matthew’s arrest after he failed to appear for arraignment on an eight-count charge bordering on conspiracy, forgery and impersonation. Gbajabiamila insists he never met or communicated with the defendant and says the allegations have caused significant reputational damage.
