THE CROWN, THE CROSS AND THE CROWD

Ambition is a beautiful liar.

It stands on distant hills, pointing toward crowns that glitter in the sun, whispering that the summit is where life finally begins. It rarely speaks of the climb, the thin air, or the loneliness that waits at the top.

Leadership is different.

Leadership is not a throne. It is a yoke carved from responsibility. It is a bridge that forgets itself so that others may cross. It is a candle that spends its own wax to give others light.

And followership...

Followership is not the shadow of leadership. It is the soil from which leadership grows. A tree that despises its roots eventually falls to the first strong wind.

Perhaps our generation has mistaken applause for purpose and visibility for value. We chase the echo of greatness while ignoring the weight that gives greatness its meaning. The crown is attractive because everyone sees it. The cross is transformative because few are willing to carry it.
Ambition asks,"How far can I rise?"
Leadership asks,"How much can I bear?"
Followership asks,"What must I learn before I lead?"

The river never argues with its banks. It reaches the ocean because it first accepts direction. So too, those who learn to follow with humility often discover that leadership finds them long before they begin chasing it. The finest leaders are not those who loved the crown most, but those who understood the cross first.
For in the end, history rarely remembers those who climbed over people.

It remembers those who carried people
