Xabi Alonso promoted the highly-rated American-English-Nigerian academy defender Landon Emenalo to first-team training earlier this week, giving the young player an opportunity to impress alongside Chelsea's senior stars.
Landon is the son of former Super Eagles left-back Michael Emenalo, a key member of Nigeria's 1994 World Cup squad.
The 18-year-old has received three call-ups for first team games without yet making his senior debut for Chelsea.
Emenalo initially joined Chelsea through the Under-8s development centre. Although he spent time with Monaco, the midfielder returned to Cobham during his Under-13s season.
During the 2023/24 campaign, Emenalo made his Under-21s debut in a 4-1 victory over Colchester United in the Premier League Cup. He signed his first professional contract with Chelsea after celebrating his 17th birthday.
