Your Excellency President Tinubu, opposition parties, independent candidates, courts, efcc 240 million Nigerians are writing to you as deeply concerned Nigerians who is troubled by the circumstances surrounding the death of Mary Habila, a 26-year-old nurse who died in the residence of the Minister of Works, David Umahi, on June 27, 2026. The facts reported by multiple reputable outlets indicate that she was part of his medical team, had lived within his residence for years, and died under unclear circumstances that have raised serious public questions.

Sir, in many countries across the world — the United States, the European Union, and other nations with strong accountability systems — a case like this would trigger immediate suspension, transparent investigation, and full legal scrutiny. In some jurisdictions, a public official found guilty of wrongdoing in such a matter would face severe consequences. Nigerians are asking why, despite the gravity of this incident, David Umahi remains a minister instead of stepping aside pending a thorough and independent investigation.

The public perception — rightly or wrongly — is that Nigeria has become a place where powerful individuals evade justice, where corruption is recycled, and where institutions meant to uphold the law appear compromised. 240 million Nigerians believe that past and present governments, along with agencies such as the police, EFCC, DSS, and even the military, have failed to uphold the integrity expected of them.

Respectfully Mr. President, Nigerians want to trust their government again. But trust cannot be demanded; it must be earned through decisive action, transparency, and accountability. If your administration is truly committed to fighting corruption, then it must begin with those closest to power — including ministers, allies, and even yourself sir respectfully. Only then can Nigerians believe that justice is possible.

We respectfully demand you to ensure that this case receives a full, independent investigation and that no official, regardless of status, is shielded from accountability. The death of Mary Habila deserves truth, justice, and transparency.

Thank you for your attention.
