Nigeria and Egypt are set to strengthen their fight against illicit drug trafficking through a new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that will boost intelligence sharing, joint operations and capacity building between their anti-narcotics agencies. NDLEA Chairman, Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa (rtd), said the agreement will reinforce bilateral ties and help counter the growing threat of international drug cartels exploiting African routes. He highlighted recent NDLEA successes, including the dismantling of methamphetamine laboratories worth an estimated $362 million linked to Mexican traffickers. Egyptian Ambassador Mohammed Fouad said both nations have a shared responsibility to confront the continent’s drug menace through closer collaboration and coordinated action.
