Singer Falz has come out swinging against First Lady Remi Tinubu after she urged Nigerian entertainers, including Davido, Burna Boy and Asake, to use their wealth to establish charitable foundations and support the poor.

Speaking during an interview with Arise News, where he was promoting his new EP, Break Time, Falz questioned why celebrities should be expected to fill gaps that exist because of government failure.

He said, "Is that the solution to our problems, more foundations? It's absurd. If you look at how much has been spent acquiring new vehicles and jets, and look at what has gone on with insecurity and what we are going through, where are your priorities? These are actually young individuals. These are your jobs to do. This is wild. And what do we mean by putting pressure on the government?

Did anyone beg you to take on this work? If I remember clearly, apart from the fact that this is a public service, you did everything within your power to campaign to enter this office. If I remember clearly, the campaign slogan for this administration was 'Emi lokan'. Do you know what that means when translated into English? It means it is my turn. I've never seen anything more absurd than that in my entire life. That means from day one that you set out on your political journey, this is the day you have been waiting for, so how can you say the pressure is too much? Are you okay?"
