Gunmen have abducted four students, the school principal, and a National Examinations Council (NECO) ad hoc staff member after storming Government Secondary School, Odo-Ekina, in Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State.

The attack happened at about 5:25 p.m. on Tuesday, just as students were sitting for their NECO examination, the Kogi State Police Command confirmed.

A combined team of police operatives and other security agencies has since launched a search-and-rescue operation to track down the attackers and free the victims.

State Police spokesperson, ASP Saliu Oyiza Afusat, said one of the abducted students had already been rescued, adding that efforts were ongoing to secure the release of the remaining captives and arrest those behind the attack.
