The agricultural sector is the only sector that can provide the jobs Nigerians need. We must match commitment with action. When President Tinubu assumed office, he declared a state of emergency on food security, but it was not backed by adequate spending to make a real difference. Just weeks ago, the World Food Programme estimated that about 19 million people in Nigeria are facing acute hunger and malnutrition. We could create over 3.5 million jobs immediately if spending in the sector were increased.
