𝗔𝗕𝗜𝗔 𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗧𝗘 𝗚𝗢𝗩𝗘𝗥𝗡𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧 𝗠𝗢𝗩𝗘𝗦 𝗧𝗢 𝗘𝗡𝗗 𝗗𝗘𝗟𝗔𝗬 𝗜𝗡 𝗡𝗬𝗦𝗖 𝗔𝗟𝗟𝗢𝗪𝗔𝗡𝗖𝗘 𝗣𝗔𝗬𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧, 𝗪𝗘𝗟𝗖𝗢𝗠𝗘𝗦 𝗡𝗘𝗪 𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗧𝗘 𝗖𝗢𝗢𝗥𝗗𝗜𝗡𝗔𝗧𝗢𝗥.

Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, has directed that every administrative obstacle delaying the payment of the approved State allowance for National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members serving in Abia be cleared without further delay. The Governor gave the directive while receiving the newly deployed NYSC State Coordinator, Mr Yunusa Tanimu , expressing surprise that the payment had not commenced despite his earlier approval and budgetary provision.

The Governor immediately instructed the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Sir Nwaobilor Ananaba, to work with the Head of Service and ensure that all outstanding issues are resolved so that implementation begins without further delay.

Governor Otti congratulated Alhaji Yunusa Tanimu on his new posting and assured him of the hospitality of the people of Abia, stressing that everyone who lives and contributes positively to the development of the State is regarded as part of the Abia family. He also praised the invaluable contributions of Corps members serving in schools, hospitals and other public institutions across the State, saying his administration would continue to support initiatives that improve their welfare and make their service year more rewarding.

The Governor maintained that approvals are only meaningful when they translate into action, insisting that every approved benefit due to Corps members must reach them promptly.

Earlier, Alhaji Yunusa Tanimu said he visited the Governor to formally introduce himself following his assumption of duty as NYSC State Coordinator in Abia and appealed for the speedy implementation of the approved Corps members' allowance. He thanked Governor Otti for the numerous interventions already extended to the Scheme, including the renovation of hostels and the multi-purpose hall at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Umunna, construction of internal roads, installation of solar-powered street lights, improved logistics for orientation courses, provision of a new State Secretariat and approval of furniture for the new office. He commended the Governor's achievements in infrastructure and economic development and assured him of the NYSC's continued commitment to supporting the growth of Abia State.

The visit was attended by the Honourable Commissioner For Youths,Sir Nwaobilor Ananaba, the Special Assistant on Sports, the Special Assistant on Youth Development, alongside other government officials. The NYSC State Coordinator also presented a souvenir to His Excellency, Governor Alex C. Otti,OFR.
