The African Thrush (Turdus pelios) is an adaptable bird, equally at home in forests, parks and suburban gardens.

Its rich, melodious song is often heard at dawn and after rain, even as it patrols the ground in search of insects and earthworms.

A familiar yet often overlooked resident of gardens across much of Africa.
