THE HORROR IN OUR PENIS - PRIAPISM.

Priapism is a complication of sickle cell disorder,
It is the persistent purposeless and painful erection of the penis,
The intensity and severity of the pain is comparable with,
The excruciating pain that a pregnant woman feels,
When she is in active labor experiencing four contractions in ten minutes,
With each contraction lasting for two minutes,
And the birth canal is fully opened for the baby to come out.
It is like the excruciating pain of someone in agony,
The agony emanating from multiple bone fractures.
It is like the pain from the stiffened chest of an asthmatic,
Gasping tirelessly for breath as each breath counts,
But for priapism, all the pain is felt at the penis.
It is one of the complications of sickle cell disorder,
Which a sickle cell warrior is uncomfortable to talk about,
Even when among families and friends.
The mind of a sickle cell warrior can be traumatized,
And he becomes irritable and restless during priapism.

I had several episodes of priapism,
The first time was in my fifth year of medical school.
My last experience of priapism lasted for 24 hours,
And I was already prepared for surgery before it stopped.
May God help us overcome all sickle cell challenges,
In the Mighty Name of Jesus Christ.
