Bolivia is considering adding USDT to its national payments system.

The government is reviewing whether Tether’s USDT could circulate alongside the boliviano and the U.S. dollar, after crypto usage surged following the removal of restrictions in 2024.

Crypto transaction volume in Bolivia reportedly jumped 630%, reaching $430M in the year after the ban was lifted.
