One of the major challenges facing our country is waste management. Despite the provision of bins, many people continue to dump plastic waste in open spaces and drainages. Yet, when the consequences of this mismanagement emerge; like flooding and environmental hazards; we quickly blame the government.This is a newly constructed drainage channel (water runway) in Kuje Area Council, Abuja, already overwhelmed with plastic waste during heavy rainfall on Sunday afternoon, 12th July 2026.
