🚨TRENDING: ₦50,000 FOR WAEC? IS EDUCATION NOW A LUXURY IN NIGERIA? 🇳🇬💔

The Federal Government has approved a uniform ₦50,000 registration fee for WAEC and NECO SSCE examinations from 2027, up from about ₦27,000 for WAEC and ₦30,000 for NECO.

At a time when millions of Nigerian parents are battling rising food prices, transport costs, school fees and rent, this decision has sparked understandable public concern.

During the 2023 election campaigns, Nigerians heard promises of improving education, reducing hardship and ensuring that the benefits of fuel subsidy removal would translate into better public services and opportunities. Today, many citizens are asking:

❓ How does increasing the cost of a secondary school certificate examination make education more accessible?

❓ How many brilliant students from poor homes will now struggle to register?

❓ If education is truly the foundation of national development, shouldn't government be making it cheaper instead of more expensive?

Education is not a privilege for the rich—it is a right and one of the strongest investments any nation can make.

This policy deserves urgent review. Rather than placing more financial pressure on families, government should explore ways to subsidize examination costs, reduce waste, improve efficiency and protect access to education for every Nigerian child.

A country that makes education unaffordable risks producing more out-of-school children, increasing inequality and limiting future economic growth.

🇳🇬 Dear Federal Government, please listen to Nigerians. Review this decision before it becomes another burden on families already struggling to survive.
