The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has welcomed the safe rescue of the abducted pupils, teachers and other victims from Oriire, Oyo State, describing it as a moment of gratitude and renewed hope. Commending President Bola Tinubu, Governor Seyi Makinde and the security agencies for the successful operation, CAN said the coordinated rescue demonstrated what professionalism, intelligence and collaboration can achieve in tackling insecurity.

While celebrating the victims’ return after 56 days in captivity, CAN urged the government to intensify efforts to secure the release of every Nigerian still held by terrorists and bandits across the country. The association also called for comprehensive rehabilitation for the rescued victims and stressed that schools must once again become safe spaces for learning, free from fear and violence.
