Floods, landslides kill 44 in Bangladesh

At least 44 people have died while more than one million others have been stranded after days of heavy monsoon rains triggered floods and landslides in southeastern Bangladesh.

The Bangladesh disaster management ministry said the flooding has affected seven districts — Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Bandarban, Rangamati, Khagrachhari, Moulvibazar and Habiganj — leaving 267,918 households stranded and disrupting livelihoods across the region.
