*Holiness Is Not About Perfection—It's About Position*

One of the greatest misunderstandings in Christianity is the idea that holiness means living a flawless life. While holy living is important, the Bible first defines holiness as being set apart for God. In the Old Testament, even the tabernacle, the altar, and the utensils used in worship were called holy, not because they were morally perfect, but because they had been dedicated to God's purpose (Exodus 30:29). Their holiness came from God's consecration, not from their performance.

The same truth applies to every believer today. Through faith in Christ, God has set us apart as His own. The Greek word for holy (hagios) means set apart or consecrated. That is why Paul addressed ordinary believers as "saints" (holy ones), not because they had reached perfection, but because they belonged to Christ (1 Corinthians 1:2). Hebrews 10:10 says, "We have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all," and 1 Peter 2:9 declares that we are "a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation." Our holiness is rooted in what Christ has done, not in our own efforts.

This truth does not encourage careless living; it empowers godly living. Because you have been made holy in Christ, you can now live in a way that reflects who you already are. Holiness is not something you struggle to achieve before God accepts you, it is your identity because God has set you apart for Himself. Walk in that confidence today. You are holy, not because your performance is perfect, but because God's work in Christ is perfect.
