Norway and England observed a moment of silence before kick-off of their #FIFAWC2026 quarter-finals match, following the tragic passing of South Africa's Jayden Adams.
South Africa and Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Jayden Adams died aged 25 after featuring in South Africa's run to the World Cup round of 32, the South African Football Players Union confirmed today.
Adams recently made his World Cup debut with South Africa and played a key role in Mamelodi Sundowns’ successful CAF Champions League campaign.
Two weeks ago, Adams lost his grandmother Marianna Adams but demonstrated remarkable professionalism by featuring for Bafana Bafana in their World Cup match against Czechia.
Our condolences and thoughts go out to his family, friends, teammates. May Jayden Adams rest in peace 🕊️❤️
