BREAKING: Nigeria's First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu aka "Iya Alakara" Touches Down Kogi to Commission Projects, Empower Women

Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, on Saturday, July 11, 2026, touched down in Kogi State for a one-day working visit aimed at advancing food security, women’s empowerment, and infrastructure development in the North Central zone.

Received warmly by Governor Usman Ododo and top government officials upon arrival in Lokoja, the First Lady is scheduled to flag off the National Community Food Bank Programme for the North Central region, an which initiative forms a key part of the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) to tackle hunger and improve nutrition access across the country.

She will also launch a women’s financial empowerment programme targeted at supporting vulnerable women through grants and economic opportunities.

In addition to that, she also is expected to inaugurate the newly completed Kogi State Treasury House, a landmark project expected to enhance fiscal management in the state.
