Aviation Minister Keyamo Demands Public Apology, ₦25,000 Fine from Peter Obi for Alleged Wrong Parking at Abuja Airport

Minister of Aviation Festus Keyamo has released a statement accusing Peter Obi of “wrong parking” at Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport on July 4, 2026, and of using “influence peddling” to avoid a ₦25,000 fine after his car was clamped. Keyamo said CCTV footage from the airport contradicts Obi’s earlier claim of “persecution” over an Abuja airport incident on With Chude, hosted by Chude Jideonwo.

This is what Keyamo was responding to. Obi told Chude:
“I had a case recently at the airport, where people who work in the airport came and locked my car. And I said, ‘It’s me.’ The person in charge said he doesn’t care. But I said, ‘Look at the cars of other people.’ And you could see them talking to each other, as if, ‘Who is this one?’”

Keyamo responded to Obi’s by saying he investigated Peter Obi’s claim that his car was “unjustly” clamped at Abuja airport and that it suggested a “persecution agenda” by the FG. He stated Obi’s “other offenders too” excuse is “completely false” and called it a case of Obi trying to “whip up unnecessary sentiments” and “milk” the situation for “cheap political points”.

Keyamo’ then demanded that Obi make a public apology to airport workers he said Obi “blackmailed as his persecutors”, pay the ₦25,000 fine for wrongful parking that he allegedly avoided via “influence peddling” while giving ultimatum that If not done within 1 week, he’ll direct FAAN to “take the next steps” against Obi.

He stated CCTV footage is attached to his statement for the public to verify. However, no such footage was attached to his statement.

We don’t know why Keyamo hasn’t released it publicly yet. His statement says “I have attached the CCTV footages to this statement for the public to clearly see what transpired.” But as of right now, there’s no video link on FAAN, Ministry of Aviation, or Keyamo’s verified handles.

Without the video + clamping log for July 4, 2026, the public can’t trust his version of the story.
