Peter Obi Must Apologise To Airport Staff & Pay The Fine For Wrong Parking - Keyamo.

As an Aviation Minister, I felt obliged to verify opposition candidate Mr. Peter Obi's claim that his car tyres were ‘unjustly’ clamped at the airport, implying a ‘persecution' by the Federal Government.

I launched an inquiry. Abuja airport is monitored by CCTV 24/7, though Mr. Obi was unaware, which might explain his rush to the media to cry ‘persecution' instead of checking the facts.

From the recordings, these are the facts:

1. On Saturday, July 4th, 2026, Mr. Obi arrived at the domestic wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe Int. Airport Abuja at exactly 20:28 pm, driven by a Policeman. He alighted with two other occupants & went into the terminal building.

2. The Police driver then parked the vehicle, almost blocking the entrance and came out himself & went into the terminal building too. The airport rule is that, apart from the fact that it is a drop-off zone, a driver must remain behind the wheels of the vehicle for it to be tolerated for some time within that zone. Still the vehicle tyres were not clamped.

3. The Policeman came back to the vehicle at about 20:32pm & collected something from the vehicle & went back into the building again, leaving the vehicle unattended.

4. At this point, the dutiful airport security staff came over & clamped the tyres of the car. In doing this, contrary to the claims by Peter Obi, nobody was inside the car & so nobody knew whether it was his car (not that it should matter, anyway).

5. When the Policeman returned again & discovered the tyres were clamped, he was directed to an office & upon getting there, he called Mr Obi on his phone & gave the phone to the manager. Mr Peter Obi then introduced himself & spoke with the manager, used his ‘influence’ & requested for the release of the vehicle. His vehicle was then released without him paying the necessary fine.

6. It is important to note that the time the vehicle was parked unattended in that prohibited zone was about 30 minutes.

This reveals an opposition candidate trying to stir unnecessary sentiments over a wrong with his driver. Mr Obi's claim that others were involved that day is false & not an excuse for someone aspiring to be Nigeria's President; he must maintain integrity.

This issue was not even raised by airport authorities & was settled. Yet, Obi tried to use it to score political points by spreading a false story.

He should face the consequences of his actions. CCTV footage attached shows what actually happened.

As Minister of Aviation, I demand Mr Obi be held accountable, respecting equality before the law.

1. He must publicly apologize to honest Nigerian airport workers he sought to blackmail as 'persecutors’.

2. He should voluntarily return to the airport & pay N25,000 for wrongful parking, as he used influence to avoid punishment. He is not above the law.

If unmet in a week, I will instruct FAAN to take action against him.
