π¨ AFTER 56 DAYS IN CAPTIVITY, ABDUCTED OYO SCHOOL CHILDREN & TEACHERS FINALLY REGAIN FREEDOM! ππ³π¬
There is joy across Oyo State as the pupils, teachers and principal abducted from schools in Oriire Local Government Area have finally been rescued after spending 56 days in captivity. β€οΈ
According to the Presidency, the victims were freed through a coordinated operation involving the Nigerian Army, Police and the DSS, with eight suspected kidnappers arrested. Authorities also stated that no concession was made to the kidnappers, while the gang leader they demanded remains in custody.
Governor Seyi Makinde expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu and the security agencies for their efforts, saying:
π£οΈ "We thank our service commanders, the Nigerian Police, DSS, the military and, of course, the President for pushing really hard to get this done."
The governor added that the immediate priority is to reunite the rescued victims with their families and provide them with rehabilitation after the traumatic experience.
Meanwhile, a statement by Governor Makinde during an interview has sparked conversations online after he noted that the abduction occurred only hours after he publicly declared his intention to run for the presidency. This has led to widespread speculation on social media about whether the incident had political undertones.
β οΈ However, as of now, no security agency or official investigation has concluded that the kidnapping was politically motivated. The exact motive has not been officially established.
The emotional video of the rescued principal thanking the government has touched many Nigerians, with thousands celebrating the safe return of the children while calling for stronger security to prevent future school abductions.
π Welcome home to every child, teacher and staff member. May no Nigerian family ever experience such pain again.
π¬ Do you believe this kidnapping was purely criminal, or should authorities investigate possible political motives? Share your thoughts respectfully.
