France booked their place in the FIFA World Cup semi-finals with a hard-fought 2-0 victory over Morocco, bringing an end to the Atlas Lions’ remarkable and history-making campaign. Morocco’s disciplined defence frustrated the defending champions for much of the contest, holding firm through a tense first half and continuing to threaten on the counterattack. The breakthrough finally came in the 60th minute when Kylian Mbappé found the net, before Ousmane Dembélé doubled France’s lead just six minutes later to seal the result. Despite Morocco’s spirited efforts, they were unable to mount a comeback, exiting the tournament after becoming the first African nation to reach this stage. France now march on in pursuit of another World Cup title.
