The 2025 Lagos Smart Tourism Index has been launched as a blueprint for measuring and accelerating the state’s tourism growth, with Dr. Iyadunni Gbadebo urging stronger collaboration to position Lagos as Africa’s leading tourism destination. Built around five pillars— infrastructure, safety, digital engagement, hospitality and destination marketing—the report highlights encouraging milestones, including 18,273 international visitors in 2024, $71.6 million generated during Detty December and over ₦8.4 billion invested in tourism initiatives this year. Industry leaders, including Lai Mohammed and Nike Davies-Okundaye, stressed that improving perception, promoting culture and strengthening partnerships are key to unlocking Lagos’ full tourism potential.
