According to widely circulated reports, Nigeria's Minister of Defence earns a basic salary of over ₦700,000 monthly (more than ₦7 million annually), excluding several official allowances.

The reported benefits include:
🏠 Accommodation allowance – over ₦16 million
🛋️ Furniture allowance – over ₦6 million
🚘 Motor vehicle allowance – about ₦8 million
🌴 Annual leave allowance – over ₦810,000
💼 Severance gratuity – over ₦6 million at the end of tenure.

Meanwhile, the Defence Minister recently highlighted that soldiers now receive ₦100,000 monthly as salary.

This has sparked debate across the country, with many Nigerians arguing that the brave men and women who risk their lives daily on the frontlines deserve significantly better pay, improved welfare, quality equipment, and stronger support.

Many believe that national security begins with adequately rewarding and equipping those who defend the nation.
