MTN Nigeria has made a strong commitment to local hiring, and its workforce statistics reflect that policy.

Direct employment:
MTN Nigeria employs 1,847 Nigerians directly in its permanent
. This figure represents the core staff across all departments, from operations and customer service to engineering and management.

Indirect employment:
Beyond direct hires, MTN’s ecosystem — including trade partners, agents, and suppliers — has impacted over 2 million people through indirect and partner roles

This includes jobs in logistics, retail, and other service sectors linked to MTN’s operations.

Workforce composition:

99% of MTN Nigeria’s permanent workforce are Nigerian citizens

95% of the executive team are Nigerian, with 11 out of 15 board members being Nigerian

93% of the Executive Management Board are Nigerian nationals

Women make up 41.4% of the workforce and 46.7% of the executive

Why it matters:
MTN’s localization strategy is part of its broader economic sustainability and national pride goals. By hiring predominantly Nigerians, the company strengthens local talent pools, supports national employment targets, and aligns with the Federal Government’s ICT Local Content Policy

Since entering Nigeria, MTN has hired over 1,800 Nigerians directly and, through its network, has created more than 2 million jobs indirectly across the country which is not enough we have 240 million Nigerian youths and graduates
