I France End Morocco’s Dream, March Into World Cup Semi-Finals 🇫🇷🏆
The curtain has fallen on Morocco’s remarkable 2026 FIFA World Cup journey after a 2-0 quarter-final defeat to France, ending the Atlas Lions’ hopes of making more history on football’s biggest stage.
In a familiar storyline, France once again proved to be Morocco’s stumbling block, having also eliminated them in the 2022 World Cup semi-finals. This time, Les Bleus delivered another disciplined and clinical performance to book their place in the last four.
After a closely contested opening half, France shifted into another gear. Kylian Mbappé broke the deadlock with a brilliant finish before Ousmane Dembélé wrapped up the victory, leaving Morocco with too much to do.
The Atlas Lions showed plenty of resilience throughout the tournament, but against a French side blessed with pace, creativity and ruthless finishing, they struggled to impose themselves. Morocco spent long periods defending and couldn’t create enough attacking threat to trouble the former world champions.
France, meanwhile, continue to look like one of the strongest teams left in the competition. Their squad is loaded with quality in every department, and they have consistently shown the composure and firepower needed to win the biggest matches.
With confidence growing and momentum firmly on their side, Les Bleus now move one step closer to lifting another FIFA World Cup trophy. They will face the winner of the Spain vs Belgium quarter-final for a place in the final.
Congratulations to Morocco on another memorable World Cup campaign, and congratulations to France on a performance worthy of the semi-finals.
