Our Constitution Gives Governors Command Authority Over State Commissioners of Police — Usman

I have long advocated for local police, not necessarily state police, based on my experience in Borno with the Native Authority police system.
The Constitution is quite clear, as is the subsidiary legislation. There is a National Security Council, a National Defence Council, and structures at the state and local government levels. The question is: are all these bodies properly set up?
There is nothing wrong with the tiered structure in Nigeria’s security architecture. Other countries are coping with similar models. Nigeria cannot effectively tackle insecurity without local knowledge.
