Life has been given to us to be of use to others*
During a picnic, a mother staying at a five-star hotel with her six-month-old baby asked the hotel manager,
“Can I get a cup of milk?”
The manager replied,
“Yes… it will cost one hundred rupees.”
The woman said,
“Alright, please give it.”
The next morning, while they were traveling by car, the baby got hungry again. They stopped at a small, broken-down roadside tea stall with a thatched roof.
The baby was fed milk there, and his hunger was calmed.
When the mother asked the old shopkeeper how much she owed for the milk, he smiled and said,
“Daughter… we don’t take money for a child’s milk. And if you need some for the journey ahead, take a little extra.”
On the way back, a question kept circling in the mother’s mind:
Who is truly rich?
The owner of the five-star hotel…
or the man in the broken hut?
What will you really do with so much wealth?
There are no pockets in a shroud,
and no cupboards in a grave.
