Cabo Verde's🇨🇻 national football team received a hero's welcome as thousands of jubilant supporters lined the streets of Praia to celebrate the Blue Sharks' historic World Cup debut.

Despite a dramatic 3-2 extra-time defeat to Argentina in the Round of 32, the squad returned home as national heroes after capturing the hearts of millions football fans worldwide with one of the tournament's most inspiring underdog stories.

In their debut tournament, they made history as the smallest nation ever to reach the knockout stages. They advanced to the Round of 32 by drawing all three of their group stage matches:

Cabo Verde vs Spain: 0-0
Cabo Verde vs Uruguay: 2-2
Cabo Verde vs Saudi Arabia: 0-0

They became only the third nation in World Cup history to reach the knockout rounds after drawing all three of their group stage games, joining Wales in 1958 and the Republic of Ireland in 1990.
