There Should Be No Reason for the Executive to Build Houses for Judges – Mato

The judiciary is an independent arm of government and ought to have its own funding. If judges require houses or accommodation, the responsibility should rest with the Chief Justice of the Federation, who can secure this through the judiciary’s independent procurement process. The 40 houses built by the Tinubu administration for judges raise questions. With over 1,000 judges in Nigeria, the number is too small. If the whole idea is not based on any clear criteria, then the policy should be to provide accommodation for every judge in Nigeria.
