SOTERIA SEASON 13
The sovereignty of God in the Scriptures is only explained within the framework of Salvation.
God is not sovereign in everything but His sovereignty is explained within the framework of Salvation that God is independent of control and He is free from influence in His plan and decision to save undeserving man.
God is free from external control, nobody intimidated Him, nobody influenced Him. He saved man all by Himself. He saved man by His grace. It is called unmerited favour.
Titus 2:11
Grace is a compound word for the actions of God taken at Salvation.
This is beginning from the incarnation, the sufferings, the sacrificial death, His burial and His resurrection. All of these actions are describe as the grace of God.
The word grace is a cognate noun that explains what God did. This is where a gift is given independent of action(s) or any kind of control. It was predetermined not based on anything or something that anyone did.
The grace of God is God's Forgiveness, it is His Salvation, it is His Righteousness. It is the cognate noun of the verb of God’s gift
Let's go to the history of it:
Exodus 6:2-3 (I AM)
Exodus 3:14 (I AM)
God revealed His Name as I AM in connection to Salvation. The Name I AM was connected to His saving grace which is a Greek word taken from the Septuagint Greek (Ego eimi) which means; I AM WHAT I AM, I WILL BE WHAT I WILL BE TO SAVE.
I AM WHAT I AM, I WILL BE WHAT I WILL BE for the purpose of Salvation.
Now within the I AM is the ability to BE WHAT I WILL BE. Because I AM THE ALMIGHTY, I WILL BE WHAT I WILL BE TO SAVE.
This describes that the sovereignty of God is as it relates to His Salvation plan.
This does not mean that God is sovereign over the decisions of men- No.
If God is sovereign over every body, all men will be saved today because that is His will.
God’s sovereignty is not general over everything and everyone. His sovereignty is only within the framework of His Salvation plan.
In Salvation, God is I AM
Exodus 6:3 AMPC
YAHWEH is the redemptive Name of God. It is His Name connected to Salvation. YAHWEH is the sovereignty of God and the sovereign Nature of God is only expressed within the framework of His Salvation plan.
This means the redemptive Name of God is His self revelation. This is the first revelation that God gives to anybody and that is how He wants to be known. God wants to be known as Saviour.
This means He will be what He will be to redeem which explains the incarnation. Which is why He as God had to be a Man to Redeem.
This means, God was talking grace to Moses.
God revealed Himself to Moses as the Saviour of man in respective of man without waiting for man's approval, the Saviour of man independent of man's state.
Exodus 6:3-7
Did you observe the i will Nature of God without man's participation. That is the grace of God.
Note: this is long before the Law which explains that in the sovereignty of God you are not permitted to contribute.
Jeremiah 31:33-34 Again the I WILL Nature of God
A new covenant here mean a new promise or a renewal- something you are saying for the benefit of hearing it again. Remember, He had said it to Moses in Exodus 6 and now He is saying it again in Jeremiah.
The grace of God therefore is independent of human influence of what God has done for man in Christ Jesus.
LET'S EXAMINE THE CONCEPT OF SALVATION
In Salvation, we have the Greek word KATALLASSO and APO KATALLASSO which is the word reconciliation.
The word KATALLASSO means bridging the gap because sin has separated man from God from Genesis when God told Adam the day you eat of it you shall surely die. The die here is not extinction but separation.
So in the redemptive plan of God, the first thing God did was to bridge the gap between man and God and this was initiated by God yo bring peace and to eliminate enemity.
Now the stronger term which is APO KATALLASSO which implies a complete, eternal and unchangeable or Irreversible reconciliation. A reconciliation where God keeps coming to man. And the first time God left man was in Christ on the cross, He left man fir only 3 days and that leaving was necessary because that was going to bridge the gap.
Hebrews 13:5 is KATALLASSO
John 3:16, Romans 5:8
The grace of God is not given because of control or any kind of influence. That is why it is called unmerited favour because; it was not deserved or influenced to be given. It is received through faith.
Ephesians 2:8 -9
God is the Saviour of man in respective of man's state, without man's contribution.
He is the I am and the I am of God is towards Salvation.
Again in the sovereignty of God, man is not needed to contribute.
The grace of God is independent of man's influence.
So the grace of God is unsolicited for which means there is nothing that a man will ever do to qualify for grace. The day a man qualifies for grace, it is no longer grace.
