*The more we focus on his love for us, the more we able to personalize the same.*

The apostle John is an example of one who personalized Christ’s love for him.

Observe there was no part of his letters nor other gospels where Jesus categorically expressed a personal love for him.

• John 21:20 Then Peter, turning about, seeth the disciple whom Jesus loved following; which also leaned on his breast at supper, and said, Lord, which is he that betrayeth thee?

This statement was made by John, not Peter or Jesus. It was a product of John’s affirmation of Christ’s love. Other references are John 13:23, John 19:26, John 21:24.

John got to that point in his meditation that was able to personalize Christ’s love. This ought to be our disposition as well. We ought not get drawn into self-pity based on terrible experiences or rejection from men. We are loved ultimately by the one who created all men. We are valued by God.

If any effort is required of us at all, it is for us to ensure that this truth remains in our consciousness. We are to avoid any information that may cause us to think otherwise.
