FIRST AID

A person is experiencing heat stroke at an outdoor event at midday. They are confused, have stopped sweating despite extreme heat, and their skin is hot and dry. What do you do?

A. Give them cold water to drink immediately, as rehydration is the priority for heat-related illness

B. Lay them in direct sun in a recovery position. The flat position is best for heat stroke patients

C. This is a life-threatening emergency. Move them to shade immediately, call for emergency help, cool them rapidly by any means available (wet cloths, fanning, cool water on skin especially neck, armpits and groin), and do not give fluids to someone who is confused as they may inhale them and possibly choke.

D. Give them salt tablets immediately as electrolyte replacement is the priority for heat exhaustion

Your time starts now....
